The Birthday Bash

Good evening petunias! Did everyone have a wonderful June 3rd? I hope so, since I certainly did! :-D I have a lot to share with you all, so this post might be a doozy.

I’ll start off with this afternoon, where I came home and made lunch for Mister E and myself. I think I shall call this meal the Steak Fajita Pita! I had bought beef already sliced for stir frying and threw it in a pan with a little oil, worschestershire sauce, Montreal steak seasoning, garlic, oregano, and S&P. After the steak was mostly cooked through, I added green peppers and onions and let it simmer on low for about five minutes. I served this with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and pitas for stuffing. On the side, we enjoyed a plate a Cheetah fries!

Later on in the day, I got to open up presents from my family while I was on the phone with them! I received their packages in the mail on Tuesday and I was forbidden to open my gifts until today. I’m still mastering the whole ‘patience is a virtue‘ thing when it comes to gifts.

There were a lot of wonderful gifts including gift cards to some of my favorite places, a boatload of Vera Bradley gear, four place settings of my silverware from Crate and Barrel, and also some workout gear. And of course the wonderful cards! But my favorite item in the box was one of my mom’s brownies topped with white chocolate, milk chocolate, and macadamia nuts!

MisterE and I had a special evening planned, so I kept things light with the last remains of my Springy Shells heated up and topped with my Italian dressing (made from oil, vinegar, and Italian seasoning).

So what did my special evening with Mister E entail? Well, we left the house with our gangster, mean mugging faces on (and fancy hair).

Tonight, Mister E and I were attending the newest charity bash to hit the Seattle scene, Party with a Purpose.

The party was inspired by the book Ten Ways To Change The World, with the idea being, throw a party to help raise awareness and funds for a particular issue – especially in the younger scene (20-30s). Tonight’s issue at hand was the rotavirus which plagues thousands and thousands of children across the world. The party was held at the Pan Pacific Hotel, which happened to have a clear view of a familiar landmark.

Mini appetizers were brought out on shiny silver platters all evening long, and I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful they were! My mind wasn’t in blogger mindset, and I popped one appetizer into my mouth after another without even a single thought of taking a photo for you. :-( I had a couple of pieces of marinated steak bites and the most spectacular deviled egg. It was topped with a baby shrimp and pesto sauce! This was hands down, a winning combination, and I’ll have to remember to recreate this at some point.

I sipped on one and a half glasses of white wine throughout the evening. Normally, I would choose red, however I didn’t want to have to worry about wine stained lips and teeth.

And the desserts did not disappoint!! First up was (what I think was) a mini key lime pie

It was a graham cracker crust, sweet lime (lemon?) filling, and whipped cream topping.

The second round of dessert involved chocolate, so you know it was good!

A chocolate shell filled with chocolate mousse and topped with a tart raspberry and mint!

I showed some restraint and limited myself to just one of each dessert. And yes, I managed to get the key lime frosting on my nose as I ate it. No shame. The night finished off with some shenanigans of this sort:

Oh, and for my birthday, the kind people of Global Health Alliance gave me a lululemon bag filled with all sort of wonderful things. It must be a lot of other people’s birthday today as well, since everyone seemed to take home one of these gifts! ;-)

I’ve heard so much about lululemon, but after checking out their prices, I decided that I would just admire their line from afar. I am proud to say that I’m the new owner of a wonderful lululemon reusable tote. Love it!

As if the evening wasn’t more than what a newly 24-year-old could ask for, Mister E had a surprise waiting for me back home. A peanut butter and chocolate ice cream cake!!!

Yes, I like planes.

Mister E and I cut off a tiny piece to share. While getting ready for bed, I told him that my belly was full of wine and sweets and I wouldn’t have it any other way on my birthday! :-D

I have all of tomorrow off from work and can’t wait! I think I’m most looking forward to sleeping in, and having a leisurely breakfast!

Hope everyone has a Happy Friday!
